Saturday July 10 we spent the day in SLC and Orem. First we went to the aquarium with Doug's brother Eric and his family. The boys had fun looking at all the different sea creatures. Some of our favorites were: Stingrays, Seahorses, Sharks, and Turtles.
This year for Doug's Family Reunion we went to Seven Peaks Resort. Neither Doug nor I had been there before and I think we will have to go again when our kids can enjoy it a bit more. We didn't go down any slides :( We tried to swap kids or something, but it was just too hard with Chris's schedule and keeping Damon and Tyler happy. They did have a fun time just playing in the little kid section or floating down the lazy river. We left just in time to miss the afternoon summer rain storm (hard rain, but it didn't last very long). Our boys were asleep within minutes of leaving. We spent the night at Eric and Dori's in SLC and enjoyed spending some time with them.
Christopher is 6 months old - wow! We're not going to the Dr for his checkup for two more weeks though, so we'll have to wait on his measurements. But he is growing and getting more and more fun. He squeals really loud and makes fake laughs. He can grab his toes and chews on his hands all the time. No teeth yet, but I wonder if they are getting close. He rolls right over from his tummy to his back, but only one way. He is a very happy baby - we love you Chris.
He started eating cereal about 2 weeks ago, he's done really well. I've given him some yellow veggies now too.
The boys have had fun throwing snaps and lighting sparklers for the past two nights. It was a little chilly last night after having some rain during the day. We went to the parade Monday morning and we were lucky to have Doug with us. He was on call, but didn't get called in until the afternoon. I made Schish-ka-bobs for dinner, that was something new. They turned out pretty good. Happy Fourth of July! Damon didn't like the loud Fire Trucks at the beginning, but liked the candy later on.
We've been trying to take advantage of the nice weather and do some fun summer things. We've been going to the park almost everyday, and we go to the elementary school when we can for their summer lunch program. Tyler loves the chocolate milk! Here are some of the other things we've done that I happened to take pictures of:
Last Sunday we went for a walk and Damon wasn't looking where he was going. . . ouch!
The boys could throw water balloons all day, they just throw them on the ground, but they love to see them splat. We attempted to fly kites in our backyard, we really needed to go to a park, but I didn't feel like loading everyone up. Our Marbleworks came in handy on a stormy afternoon, it kept them entertained for quite awhile. We're loving summer and looking forward to more trips to see family.
Well, this is Christopher's 3rd hair cut, but the biggest one. I got out the clippers this time just to even things all up. He looks like a little boy now. I'm going to have to find the picture we have of Damon's first hair cut, I think they look pretty similar.
Before: After: These two are of Damon, so similar!
Last week was the end of our swimming lessons for the boys. We are having a reunion at 7 Peaks next month, so I wanted to get them ready to play. We had our neighbor friends take them at the same time, so it was nice to have them there. They both did really well. Damon cried and hated it the first day and a half, but after that kept asking when swim lessons were and was very distraught over the weekend that he had to wait 3 whole days before he could swim again. Tyler did well, but didn't like being cold while they had to sit and wait for their turn on the steps.
Yesterday, Saturday, we went swimming as a family. The boys loved it and would have stayed longer, but mom and dad were cold :) We now have 2 little fishes instead of boys. They were lowered off of the diving board.
Well, it's reunion time. This year the Scott Datwyler Reunion was held at my Grandpa Fish's Cabin on Smith's Mesa near Virgin Utah. It was great to see my siblings and their children. My boys of course had fun playing with their cousins and running in the dirt. There is a playground set there, so we spent a lot of time climbing and going down the slides. Tyler got the most scratches and slivers, but he was a trooper and didn't complain a bit.Christopher started the trip with a cold then passed it to Tyler and Damon while we were there, oh well.
We played Bohnanza and visited and ate lots of yummy food: pizza, dutch over chicken and potatoes, homemade Root Beer, pancakes, egg mcmuffins, lasagna and more. The boys did a hike and the girls painted a cute wooden picture frame for our 'alone' time. My mom made a special picture video of all of our families. She spent soooo many hours working on that, thanks mom.
We all had a great time, here are some of our pictures:
On the way to the cabin we had to stop for two groups of cows being herded. This is Damon gathering these little fuzzies from the trees and then he would crash them into each other and have them explode. Boys! Doug of course enjoyed shooting a few hoops. Keep climbing Tyler. Chris- We had a pinata to break that the kids and adults had fun with. We all got one or two whacks and we didn't finish until Grandpa Fish gave it a final hit. Grandpa Fish and Tyler on the 4-wheeler. Mom with Christopher and Linus, being a great grandma as always. Mom gave all the kids these heavy sand-filled snakes along with a video movie about them that she made herself. Damon had his birthday while we were there. We had already celebrated at home, but we had saved some presents for his special day. Happy 5th birthday Damon!
We went to Aunt Yvonne's and Uncle Kim's for church and to take family pictures. We checked out their animals after lunch: goats, chickens, pigs, rabbits, cows and probably more that we didn't see. We had a great water fight, even us big kids joined in. I got you dad! Here are all the grandkids: Christopher, Linus, Tyler, Stefan, Sierra, Damon, and Claire. Grandbaby #8 is due in August. It was a great reunion, thanks for all the fun everyone.
