Spring Break - Estes Park

For Spring Break we went up to Estes Park and stayed there for 2 nights.  We left Sunday afternoon and came back home Tuesday morning.  It wasn't long, but a fun little break.  We did learn that to really enjoy the area up there it is better to go in the summer.  The fun things to do weren't open for the season yet, and it was too cold to go hiking or anything.  We even woke up to snow the second morning.

We decorated this fun eggs that looked like animals and hid them around the condo.

We went for a stroll around the lake, well we didn't go far, just wanted to throw rocks in.  Then we found out that it was even more fun to throw rocks and pines cones on the frozen ice on top.  Then the boys had fun getting big sticks and breaking the ice up - boys :)  At least no one fell in.  We stopped afterwards and bought some hot chocolate mix to help us warm up.
Chris remembered this walk from the fall with Grandma and Grandpa Datwyler and kept asking where the Elk were.

Everyone was excited to go swimming, the hot tub was great and even the pool wasn't too cold, though I was the only one who went in.  It started to snow on us a bit while we were there, but everyone had a great time.  The girls were great to just chill in their car seats.

Tuesday morning we went to another visitor center and watched a short movie about the Rocky Mountain National Park.  Chris was excited to see some Elk and Big Horned Sheep in the show.  We were all hungry by the time we made it back home for lunch, but we had a fun trip and I'm sure we'll go back since it is so close to us. (1 hour away)

FUN trip!! I hear you about summer... we were wishing that we were in England in the summer instead. It was still VERY fun, but we felt bad when we were up in the lake district, because the trees had no leaves.
